Bucharest e-Callisto Station

The Bucharest e-Callisto Station is part of the e-Callisto network developed by Christian Monstein et al. covering all world and records solar radio bursts 24/24. It was installed in May 2022 and cover a wide band from 45 to 380 MHz. A fixed, vertical polarization Logarithm Periodic Dipole Array (LPDA) antenna is installed on the tower of the Solar House (AIRA) and a nearby front-end with a PGA-103 Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) compensate the cable loss and rise the noise-signal ratio.

SDR Station

In order to find a replacement for the CALLISTO receiver that use obsolete components like the analog TV tuner we developed a digital station based on the RX-888 MKII Software Defined Receiver (SDR). A tri-band radioamateur dipole antena for HF is used and it covers 10-70 MHz band with better time and sensitivity resolution. A custom software rx2fits is used to convert the data from the 16 bit ADC to FITS files and png images spectrograms.
